Frequently asked about Logan
Common questions people search for, with answers written by us at MoviesPack.
Why is Logan dying throughout the film?
Logan is being slowly poisoned by the adamantium bonded to his skeleton, which his healing factor can no longer fully counteract as he ages. His regenerative powers have weakened to the point that wounds linger and his body is breaking down from the inside, leaving him visibly scarred, drinking heavily, and reliant on medication.
What happened to the other X-Men before the events of the film?
It is gradually revealed that Charles Xavier suffered a catastrophic seizure in Westchester that killed most of the X-Men and many civilians, an event referred to as 'the Westchester incident.' Charles has a degenerative brain disease that causes uncontrollable psychic episodes, which is why Logan keeps him sedated and hidden in a collapsed water tower across the Mexican border.
Who is Laura and how is she connected to Logan?
Laura (X-23) is a young mutant girl genetically engineered by Transigen using Logan's DNA, making her effectively his biological daughter. She was created as part of a program to breed mutant child soldiers, and when the company decided to terminate the children in favor of the more controllable X-24, a nurse helped Laura and the others escape.
What is X-24 and why does Transigen create him?
X-24 is a younger, feral clone of Wolverine engineered by Dr. Rice as the next phase of the Transigen program after the mutant children proved too willful to weaponize. He has no conscience or free will, follows orders without question, and is used to hunt down the escaped children. He ultimately kills both Charles and, in the climactic forest battle, mortally wounds Logan.
What is the significance of the grave marker scene at the end?
After burying Logan, Laura turns the wooden cross on his grave sideways to form an 'X,' symbolizing that he died as a true X-Man and acknowledging his legacy. It is her quiet tribute to the man who, despite resisting the role of father and hero throughout the film, ultimately sacrificed himself to save her and the other mutant children so they could reach the Canadian sanctuary called Eden.
