Frequently asked about Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Common questions people search for, with answers written by us at MoviesPack.
How do dinosaurs still exist in Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs?
The dinosaurs survived by living in a vast underground world hidden beneath the ice, a lush subterranean jungle with its own ecosystem, plant life, and food sources. This hidden biome was sealed off from the surface ice age, allowing prehistoric creatures to thrive undisturbed for millions of years. The herd discovers this world after falling through a crack in the ice.
Why does Sid steal the dinosaur eggs at the beginning of the film?
Sid feels left out and purposeless as Manny and Ellie prepare for the birth of their baby, making him crave a family of his own. He stumbles upon three large eggs underground and impulsively decides to raise them as his children, ignoring the obvious danger signs. His loneliness and desire for belonging drive him to make the reckless decision without thinking through the consequences.
Who is Buck and what is his obsession with Rudy?
Buck is a one-eyed weasel who has been living alone in the underground dinosaur world for so long that he has gone somewhat feral and eccentric. He lost his eye to Rudy, a massive albino Baryonyx, and has since dedicated his life to hunting and outsmarting the beast in an ongoing personal vendetta. His obsession with Rudy gives him purpose in the dangerous underground world, and he ultimately chooses to stay behind when the others return to the surface.
Why does Mama Dinosaur eventually let Sid go at the end?
Throughout the film, Sid forms a genuine bond with the three baby dinosaurs he hatched, and Mama T. rex observes him risking his life to protect them from Rudy. By the climax, she recognizes that Sid genuinely cares for her young, and after Rudy is defeated and the herd escapes back to the surface, she allows Sid to leave peacefully rather than reclaiming him as prey. Her maternal instinct appears to override her aggression once she sees Sid as a fellow caregiver rather than a threat.
What happens to Rudy at the end of the film?
During the climax, Buck lures Rudy into a trap and the enormous dinosaur is sent plummeting into a crevasse, seemingly defeated. However, in a post-climax scene, Rudy is shown to have survived, roaring from below, and Buck gleefully rushes off to continue their endless battle. This ending reinforces that Buck's rivalry with Rudy is a permanent, defining feature of life in the underground world.
